“YOUR TOURISM FESTIVAL” WAS HELD IN EDIRNE

Edirne Youth and Education Association hosted the “Youth TOURISM FESTIVAL” in Edirne between 9 and 11 June 2021. Conducted within the youth tourism project “ODRIN-BURGAS” TOURIST YOUTH HUB with reference number CB005.2.23.038, funded by the Interreg program -IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Bulgaria-Turkey 2014-2020, the festival was held with 100 participants – 50 Bulgarian representatives including students from the Department of Tourism of University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov ”, Burgas, folk singers Rositsa Yangyozova and Irena Stankova from Malko Tarnovo, Men’s Vocal Group and Folk Orchestra, and “Crazy Young” Folk Dances Band and  50 Turkish representatives including students from various high schools including Vocational High School of Tourism and Hospitality, and the university in Edirne, all of which are among the target groups of the project.    

The Bulgarian Consul General in Edirne, Mr. Metodi Andreev, attended the festival as a guest of honor. Started with the sightseeing visits to the Selimiye Mosque, one of the important tourist attractions of Edirne, II. Bayezid Mosque, the Complex and Health Museum, the Church of Saints Constantine and Helena, Karaagac and the historical Tundzha and Maritza Bridges to recognize the tourist treasures of the Edirne region, the festival continued with fun on the second day of June 10, 2021 in a popular tourist area of ​​Edirne where the historical Tundzha and Maritza Bridges are located. Turkish and Bulgarian young people belonging to the target groups of the project had a great time, exhibiting Bulgarian and Turkish dances.

The participants in the Turkish and Bulgarian festival recognized the natural, cultural and historical treasures of the cross border region of Edirne-Burgas and had a fun day accompanied by music and events.

The incredible harmony of Burgas artists and Turkish participants, which did not go unnoticed, made the Festival of Youth Tourism an unforgettable event.

The project partners created a promotional corner for Edirne and Burgas at the festival. At the end of the festival, plaques were presented to all participants.
