Cross-Border Forum was held within the scope of the project “Odrin-Burgas” – Youth Tourist Hub

On Tuesday, 25.05.2021, Edirne Youth and Education Association The Cross-Border Forum held the first event of the project “Odrin-Burgas” Youth Tourist Hub (CB005.2.23.038) , financed within the scope of Interreg-IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program, Bulgaria-Turkey 2014-2020 in Duvan Hotel, Edirne.

Press representative from the region, young people aged 14-35 from various schools, who are candidates to become tourism volunteers, and representatives of non-governmental organizations attended the Cross-Border Forum. After the opening speech of Şerif Çapkın, President of Edirne Youth and Education Association, Project Manager Didem Tulga Demir presented the project in the event attended by approximately 40 people. The Manager of the Motivation Campaign, which will be held within the scope of the project, and the licensed tour guide Özer Şahin made a presentation introducing the touristic riches of Edirne and Burgas cross-border region. During the design phase of the project, the Cross-Border Forum in Edirne, which was planned as a 2-day event with the participation of 30 young people from Bulgaria, was held without participants from Bulgaria due to the restrictions imposed due to the Covid19 pandemic. The presentation prepared as part of the Cross-Border Forum event was sent to the Bulgarian participants of the project via e-mail. 

The project is being implemented by Edirne Youth and Education Association, as the lead partner, and CHAR-Burgas Black Sea Development Association from Bulgaria under “Specific Objective  2.3: Increasing networking for development of sustainable tourism through cross-border cooperation initiatives”, Priority Axis 2 “Sustainable tourism”  of  Interreg-IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Program, Bulgaria-Turkey 2014-2020 under the second call for proposals of the named programme. The aim of this project is to create a common sustainable environment in the cross-border region of Edirne-Burgas so that young people can be strongly involved in the development of tourism.
